Third and finally, when I have this problem, (and yes, I still have this problem sometimes) I find the problem is that Premiere just hasn't conformed the audio properly. But never use inferior video if audio is your only problem. I had to do this sometimes in version 5.5 I think. I don't think this is the way to go but I would never use transcoded video. Second, if you have to transcode (and you really shouldn't but if you do), why are you using transcoded video? If audio is your problem just strip the audio out in third-party-of-choice program, bring it in to Premiere and marry to the original video. MTS files are highly compressed, each flavor is a little different and frankly they are rather freaky! Heck, use the Media Browser to import anything always. First off, I completely agree with jstrawn use the Media Browser to import clips ALWAYS. I have a couple of thoughts that might help. It's 2020 now and this is still a problem? Wow.

The only one that I know will work is to completely convert the MTS file to something else. I have read fix after fix that does not work. Only Premier Pro CC cannot get this right? It's infuriating. Any other program including Premiere Pro 'Elements' will bring in the audio as it is supposed to. And I did move the accociated files into the same folder. That is solved? Correct answer? I don't think so! I cannot get the audio files From my MTS files to import no matter what. Good luck and let me know if this helped you out. These files need to be processed INSIDE the camera and then transferred into your computer. Do not do that, leave the card in the camera. You probably were doing what I was doing and taking the memory card out of the camera. The camera comes with a CD which contains a program called "Data Import Utility". In Resolve, if I go to I/O Preferences, everything seems to be set correctly (built-in speaker output), but my level meters are not registering any dB.I have the Canon G30. Ultimately, I want to convert these files into Apple ProRes 422HQ, so they can be used in a very VFX heavy project. I CAN load the file into VLC player and it has sound there, but if I try to put the same clip into Adobe Premiere Pro, Media Encoder, or Quicktime, I still have no luck. However, when I try, there is no sound - despite the fact that if I click file properties, it shows it as having sound, and there is the little music staff in the corner of the clip.
